Make it stand out

News and Updates

April 9th, 2025:

Hello! I realize while a picture can say 1,000 words, there are some things which I’ll still have to share directly else they’ll never be known.

  • This Summer I am moving back to New York! I am looking for studio space, as well as an apartment if anyone has any leads !

  • This September I am going to participate in a group show at the Reynolds Ryan gallery, in New Orleans.

Currently I am building two series of works. Landscapes, and Figuration. Both feature realism, as well as moments of absolute surrealism. They are my attempt to see, and share with you an entire book about life in a single canvas.

  • The figuration series started when I picked up a painting I began 2017 as a freshman in college. I had abandoned it with only the black and white figure’s face, left sleeve, and right hand complete.

  • In fall 2024 I decided to reimagine the piece, but leave untouched the work done by my younger self. Now the kids are in the back of a truck, racing through a valley, in the dead of night.

  • Recently, I’ve been doing what we all do, get older. Things that used to be a large part of my life and identity have lost their edge. This process we’ve all learned is alienating and enlivening, and more constant then we like to admit.

  • I’ve turned back to another old canvas Blue Face, and added still life, transforming it into Memento Mori ‘25 (in progress). The blue character, now with eyes open, looks outward from inside the painting itself.

  • This exploration learned to share time with landscapes: searching skies, finding beauty in dawns, days, and dusks. In front of such sights, I am always reminded of the limits of what paint can communicate in regards to the whole of reality- and instead challenge myself to find the simple truth of one part. This process has shown to reveal the ‘hero’ in the composition, I’m curious if you can identify them all.
